Why become a member of the Atlanta Road Alliance Church?
The most common image of the church in the New Testament is that of a body. As a body is made of many parts, all critical to the health of the whole body, so too, a church is made up of many members. When a person welcomes Christ into his life, he becomes a “member” of the body of Christ, the Church (Romans 12:2-4, 1 Corinthians 12:24, Colossians 3:15). The Bible speaks of membership in terms of belonging to the universal body of Christ, the greater Church.

The Atlanta Road Alliance Church, as all local churches, is used of God to bring people to Christ, equip them with the knowledge of God’s will, and prepare them for service. While we do not require formal membership of those who attend, we do recommend membership as an expression of commitment to the local and larger work of God.

Steps to Membership
Several times each year, a “Getting Acquainted” class is offered for those who are new to the church. Although attendance in this class is not required for membership, it is recommended for those considering becoming a formal member of the church to attend.

Covenant of Membership
We do now in the presence of God and this congregation, without any known reserve, devote ourselves to God, choosing Him for our portion forever; promising most solemnly to make His Word the rule of our faith and practice; endeavoring to take heed to ourselves, our conversations and company; turning away from sin and uncleanness of thought and action in order to love, follow and obey Jesus Christ.

We also resolve to respect and honor them which have rule over us, who speak to us the Word of God; and to perform the duties contemplated in the Scriptures, such as observing the Lord’s Day and attending public worship with our families, endeavoring to lead our children or others committed to our care to a personal faith in Jesus Christ, observing the Lord’s Supper, being faithful in family and personal devotions, and consistently striving together to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

We will endeavor by the aid of the Holy Spirit to strive for the advancement of the Church in knowledge, holiness, and ministry; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry and the maintenance of the church. And, recognizing the fact that the last great commission of the Master, “Go you into all the World and preach the Gospel to every creature” is incumbent upon every follower of Christ, we will to this end pledge ourselves to earnestly pray and labor.

All this we will endeavor to perform through the gracious enabling of God, to whom be glory forever and ever.
