Why become a member?/files/Pictures for Pages/handstogether.jpg

Each believer is called to make a personal commitment to Christ.  We believe that such a commitment is to be lived out corporately in the context of a local church.  Belonging to a specific church gives you unique opportunities to identify with Christ, His church, and the opportunity for you to use your God-given gifts to help in mutual service to one another.

The church of Atlanta Road Alliance is a family, adopted by God (Gal. 4:6-7Eph. 1:5). From Him we receive the privilege to worship Jesus together, serve in His kingdom, and be His children. We care for each other, pray for each other, and serve together.

Guests are always welcome within our household. And for those interested in transitioning from guest to family member, the membership process (see below) is your opportunity to learn more about us, and our opportunity to get to know you.

The leadership of Atlanta Road Alliance Church strives to love and care for its members well (Eph. 4:11-12Gal. 6:10). In turn, we rely on our members to accomplish our collective work as the church (Eph. 2:10). We trust the Holy Spirit to move through the transformed hearts of our members, mobilizing the collective body of Christ in humble ways to love the surrounding community, love our family, and glorify God.

For members, the call is demanding (Mark 8:34-35). The opposition is great (1 Peter 5:8). But Jesus goes with us (Matt. 28:20).

How do I become a member?

For those interested in transitioning from guest to family member, the membership process is your opportunity to learn more about us, and our opportunity to get to know you.  If you are interested in becoming a member, below is what we typically encourage people who have begun attending our Sunday services…

1. Connect

  • Attend Sunday services to get to know others
  • Participate in a Life Group to get to know others as well

2. Class

Take the “Discovering Membership” Class, which explains who we are, what we believe, why join a church, how we operate as a church, and provides an opportunity to get to know Atlanta Road Alliance Church pastors and elders.

3. Christian

Members must confess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (and get baptized if they have not previously done so as a professing Christian).

4. Covenant

Affirm Atlanta Road Alliance Church’s Statement of Faith and Church Covenant by signing both documents and living out the expectations of members:

  • Worship. Attend our Worship Gatherings on Sundays
  • Community. Live life with other members of the family by remaining an active part of a Life Group, fellowship on Sunday Worship Gatherings, and attending Member Meetings when announced (annual meeting in February, and other times)
  • Pray. Pray for other church members, evangelism opportunities, and our missionaries.
  • Give. Members are asked to give faithfully (10% is a good start, and increase as the Lord enables)
  • Serve. Use your gifts, talents, skills, and time to serve the church and participate in Jesus’      mission.

5. Conversation

For this you will need to:

  • Be at least 18 years old.  A person age 16 may join as a junior member (for voting on legal matters 18 years old).
  • Submit a membership application.
  • Have a conversation about your testimony with 2 elders in an interview.
  • Later express publicly in a church meeting your agreement to the Statement of Faith and Church Covenant.

If you are interested in taking these steps to become a member, please contact the church office or the Welcome Center at church for a listing of groups in your area.
